Specification of Skype for Android (2.1) – it is coming…

Despite it is my first blog entry, I think it is an interesting information for a start. I contacted Skype and asked them if Skype for Android is really coming this year and if it will support both WIFI and 3G. The short answer is YES! Also as it seems Skype won’t support Android 1.6 and below.

We understand that you would like to know if Skype is going to release a version for Androids to be available for the general public.

Skype for Android will be available before this year ends, although there is no specific date announced yet. The application has been designed to work on all devices that run Android Version 2.1 and above, with connections WiFi or 3G (2G – EDGE/GPRS) and will be available from Android Market (version 1.0.0.538), www.skype.com/m and http://getjar.com/skype (version 1.0.0.539).  Supported features include:

Chat, Multi chat
Skype to Skype and SkypeOut calling
Receiving Skype and SkypeIn calls
Participating in conference calls, Sync with native phonebook.
